Questions About Therapy

I wish I had a clear answer for this question. Progress depends on so many factors such as how significant symptoms are, how motivated you are for change, and the goodness of fit in counseling with your therapist. My goal is for you to start to see progress very quickly, after the first session or two even. This will help you gauge what the timeline for success looks like. Most importantly, therapy should never be forever and my job is to work myself out of a job so I have availability for others seeking support.
I am in network with Lyra health, so if you have them as a provider please let me know. I am out of network otherwise. If you have a plan that will reimburse for out of network providers I can provide a “superbill” which is basically a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
I can accept cash or check, but most folks pay electronically which is easy and can also provide an easy to access invoice or superbill. You can use a health savings account to make payment in the electronic payment software I use.

I am in network with Lyra Health, so if you are a Lyra member please let me know and your sessions will be covered as dictated by your plan. Otherwise I am not in network and the session fee is $235.

I can provide you with a “superbill” that you can send on to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have a plan that covers reimbursement for out of network providers. If you do, you may check with them first so you know what kind of reimbursement they offer. Many folks also use their HSA to make payment. I don’t believe in therapy forever, so I will work hard to be sure we are working toward your goals as efficiently as possible.

I ask for 24 “business hours” minimum for a cancellation, so one full day. This allows me to offer this session time to others that would like it. Cancellations within 24 hours are late cancellations and the full session fee is applied.
That depends on who the treatment unit is (individual, family, or couples). Please feel free to click around the website to read about my treatment approach. I draw from CBT, mindfulness based interventions, and family systems theories to promote change and reach your goals.
The building is located on 24th street in Noe Valley, which is a nice place to take a walk and grab a coffee or lunch. There’s plenty of coffee shops, Whole Foods, and other shopping in walking distance. Relative to the rest of the city, parking here is relatively easy. The weather’s relatively sunny as well. The building here is compromised of therapists and is quiet and comfortable, and the entrance is private and discreet. My office is comfortable, casual, and clean.
Typically I meet with folks on a weekly cadence. This allows us to make progress efficiently. We can hold a weekly time to make scheduling easy, and to avoid confusion. When you begin to see the progress you’d like, we can end or titrate down to less frequent meetings, such as bi-weekly. In some instances, if clinically indicated, I meet with folks on an as needed basis.
